Exhibition "Sculptures" Julien Marinetti at Plaza Athénée [1]
Born in 1967, Julien Marinetti grew up in Quai de Conti, in the chic Parisian quarter of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, close to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Louvre museum. His father was a photo-journalist and his mother was a drama school director, a passion for the arts came as naturally to him as breathing.
Each of his works is a unique expression of art combining painting and sculpture. The work of the sculptor who imagines and shapes the first bronze models, meet the painter’s brushstrokes that reinvents itself every time. Julien Marinetti considers these sculptures to be 3D paintings revealing a neo-expressionist painting. Inspired by painted Greek ceramics from antiquity,he created a singular approach ten years ago, "the syncretism of art" that still continues to evolve through new media and new iconographic subjects. Each sculpture was conceived and shaped in clay before becoming bronze as a canvas for his paintings.
26 sculptures will decorate the entrance and the courtyard of the palace where you will find "Doggy John", "Ba" the panda and the latest of the artist's creations - announcing the arrival of winter 2015 - "Bob" the penguin.
